On Monday 15th August, we welcomed local charity, Teens Unite Fighting Cancer and 14 of the young people they support, to take the karts out on the track.
This formed part of the charity’s annual Activity Stay, where the young people enjoy a short break away from home with others their age who are also overcoming the challenges of cancer. They take part in different activities each day, all of which enable them to grow their confidence, enjoy new experiences, make new friends, and start rebuilding their lives following cancer treatment.
Together, they pulled on their race suits, put on their helmets, and embraced the racetrack for an evening to remember. For many, this was their first karting experience or certainly the first time they have taken part in an activity such as this since they were diagnosed.
It was a pleasure to host Teens Unite Fighting Cancer, and great to see their smiles when they were standing up on the winner’s podium.
