Local businesses and supporters traded in their work attire for Formula 1 suits and participated in the charity race against cancer and mental health. Historic Rye House Kart Raceway (racing home of the legendary F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton), Teens Unite Charity (dedicated to improving the lives of young people with life limited illnesses) and The Samaritans, joined forces for The Mayors Challenge & Charity Race to celebrate his new chain of office in the Borough of Broxbourne.

From Teensunite…
“We were delighted that the Mayor of Broxbourne, Councillor Steve Wortley, selected Teens Unite as one of his chosen charities when he was elected earlier this year.
Last night, Councillor Wortley kicked off his fundraising with a ‘Broxbourne vs. Ware’ Charity Grand Prix at Rye House Raceway, which saw teams race around the track, alongside the Mayor himself, in a bid to be crowned champions.
The winners were Ware, but most importantly, the event raised a fantastic amount of funds and awareness for the Mayor’s two chosen charities – Teens Unite and Hertford and Ware Samaritans.
We are grateful to Councillor Wortley and all involved in making the Charity Grand Prix such a successful event; we can’t wait for the next one!”
